I'm flip-flopping again. As the script evolves, it becomes to mature for the Flex-Rig cartoonish characters. I'm starting to consider MB-Lab again. I decided to do a serious lip-sync animation test to guage the lab's capabilities. I think the lip-sync turned out okaish. But I wish there were more shape keys to fine tune the mouth shapes, not to mention the face expressions as well. I think I got some ideas to implement.
A side effect of this project was creating an add-on to manage keyframes, aimed for use before fine tuning with the curve editor.
- Lessons learnt
- Need more shape-keys to fine tune the mouth shapes
- Lip sync is time consuming
- Subtle motion is hard to perfect. I don't like the head motion, even though I was following a reference. So I need practice.
- Back to #1 face expressions needs more shape keys. So I need to spend more time creating shape keys
- More shape keys means I need to develop a better face rig.
- I did end up creating an add-on to manage key frames and actions. For example repeated actions like blinking. I can store it and paste it multiple times. I'll add it to my github soon.
A side note, I already got a bunch of people ridiculing the work, so I have to toughen up and look past the negative speak.
