General Strategy
- All spaceship and exterior scenes will be 3D animation
- Not use any 3D characters, instead use space suite
Inside the spaceship
Outside the spaceship
This will allow us to not worry about creating realistic human models and properly animating them, especially facial expressions.
It will also allow us to work with an actor to create a believable performance. This can be done by shooting all the actor's performances in an Ironman HUD style shots:
We can potentially have a Picture-in-picture shot. Where we can have the HUD shots in the corner of the screen, while the animated footage is playing. Then we can cut to full screen of the HUD whenever it is appropriate.
Spaceship exterior
Spaceship interior
The interior will need to be modified and expanded to fit the requirements.
Pre-Production:
- Organize the pre-production team.
- Write and polish the script – I’m making a couple of changes to it. But I think I’m just gonna go with what I have, since it’s simple enough.
- Breakdown the script: Figure out all the props (or 3D assets) needed.
- Create a storyboard and plan out all the shots in detail.
- Collect 3D assets or model them
- Rigging
- Organize the production team and Cast actors
- Setup 1 or 2 rehearsals with the actors
Production:
- Schedule the live shoots
- Rough layout
- Animation
- Effects and Lighting
- Rendering
Post-Production:
- Editing
- After effects work
- Sound design
- Sound score
- Polishing
